Features

1.

To motivate students to explore and understand the relationship between human beings, the environment and the Earth through the study of space, regions and interactions between human and the environment

2.

To help students to develop sound knowledge of the ever-increasing challenges of the world posed by natural hazards, environmental problems, globalization, population and urban problems and resource depletion

3.

To enable students to apply geographical concepts to daily life

4.

To understand how the natural environment affects human life and how human activities affect the natural environment

5.

To develop competencies and skills in

  1. interpreting maps, photos, statistical graphs, diagrams;
  2. information processing;
  3. problem-solving and high-order thinking

6.

To apply map reading skills and integrate geographical information and GPS to the curriculum

7.

To equip junior students with fundamental knowledge and skills which provide solid foundation for senior forms' geography learning

8.

To organise field trips to allow students to apply concepts and knowledge to the real world, and to learn new ideas

Achievements

  1. Students are able to apply geographical and spatial concepts, develop a good awareness of natural phenomena and hazards worldwide, and critically analyse the underlying causes. 
  2. Students are able to apply geography-related IT tools e.g. geographical information system and Global Positioning System across disciplines and in the daily life.
  3. Students are able to develop the ability to appreciate the natural world.
  4. Students have attained good academic standard in the public examination.
