Religious Education (Christianity)

Objectives

We offer Bible lessons to F.1 to F.6 students.  We use varied teaching approaches in different forms' curricula which aim to inform students about Christianity from various perspectives. The syllabus for Form 1 – 3 focuses on the basic doctrine of Christianity and salvation, while the higher forms put more emphasis on the relationship between life and religious belief. In particular, we arrange a cemetery visit for Form 5 students to prompt them to reflect upon issues of life and death and their attitude towards living.

Learning & Teaching Modes

F.1 - F.2: Students acquire an accurate and explicit understanding of the Bible with teachers’ instruction and explanation of its content.

F.3 - F.6: The curriculum emphasises that it is eseential to be reasonable and compassionate to explore and pursue a religious belief.  On the one hand, students are nurtured to enhance their self-learning and critical thinking abilities in conducting topic studies in groups.  Through researching and organising data from different viewpoints, they learn to reflect their views objectively. On the other hand, teachers try to guide students to experience and understand faith that could transcend one’s logical mind by sharing their personal or others' stories.
